I’m a certified Personal Trainer, Boxing for Fitness instructor, Yoga Teacher, Gym Instructor and Australian Institute of Fitness Master Trainer. I’ve been a fitness lover for over 15 years now and I’ve tried every kind of exercise you can imagine. I’ve been a weight-lifting gym junkie, a pavement-pounding jogger, a car-dodging cyclist and a bootcamp lover. I’ve done pilates, tabata training, cross fit, kettlebells and yoga. I’ve pushed myself to the extreme and I’ve had times where I’ve totally lacked the motivation.
But in all these years there’s one thing I’ve learned. Exercise isn’t about extremes, or punishment, or self-hate. You can’t build positive results on negative encouragement! Exercise is to be loved, in the same way you love getting stuck into all those other hobbies you find joy and pleasure in. It’s about developing a connection with your body so that you begin to understand what it needs, what makes it tick, and what will give you the best results.
Your body is an incredible machine. It has this innate sense of knowing, and it doesn’t make mistakes. It’s constantly working to keep you in the best shape you can possibly be in.
But in order to do this well, it needs to be fuelled in the right way – and exercise is an integral part of that fuel.
